A man in Mississippi tried to change his last name to his wife's on his driver's license and was told he'd need a court order to do so. The ACLU stepped in and said, a man should be able to present his marriage certificate, just like a woman can do, and have it changed - no court order needed. The DMV gave in.  This man said he took his wife's name because she was the sole living member of her family, and she wanted her family name to carry on. 70% of North Americans say a bride should take her husband’s name. In fact, half of the survey respondents said it should be the law!
