The Dakota Garden Expo begins this weekend and when it comes to gardening you have an endless amount of options.

But let's assume you love food and you are planning on having a vegetable garden this spring and summer. It would be helpful to know when you should begin planting certain vegetables to ensure the best results.

Fortunately, the Old Farmer's Almanac has a resource to help with this. By entering the specific city you live in, the almanac will let you know how to go about your vegetable garden this upcoming gardening season.

Below is the chart they provide for Bismarck. Here is a larger version. If you live in another city, be sure to see the specific calendar available for your specific city.

About 100 vendors will be on hand for the Dakota Garden Expo. The Expo takes place at the Bismarck Event Center on Friday from 3pm to 8pm and on Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Admission is $4 or $2 with a non-perishable food item to donate.
