Winter weather and the coldest temperatures of the season are expected to affect the area and the first widespread snow event is gearing up to dump the area with up to 6 inches of snow.

Most people woke to a dusting of snow and cold temperatures Sunday morning but more snow and dangerous temperatures are forecasted for the area tonight through Monday. According to The National Weather Service-

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire Bismarck-Mandan area with a WINTER STORM WARNING for West Central and Southern North Dakota through Monday. Expect snow to overtake the area tonight as the system approaches and a WINTER STORM WARNING will most likely be issued as the system approaches the area.

The Bismarck-Mandan area can expect 3-6 inches of snow, very cold temperatures which will make travel hazardous through Monday morning.

Wind chill values will be in a dangerous range from 10-20 below zero overnight and early morning.
