Another very cold arctic polar blast will dominate the area again! Keep the log johns handy as the cold weather and wind will continue to effect the region and will hang around for a while, according to the National Weather Service.

A WIND CHILL WARNING in effect until 1 PM CST Thursday .

The National Weather Service indicates that the arctic high pressure will continue to push south through North Dakota, behind a strong arctic cold front. Strong North winds of around 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph will continue this morning over the area.  A winter weather advisory along and east of highway 83 for blowing snow through this morning and a wind chill advisory this afternoon through Thursday morning.
A wind chill advisory is in effect today through Thursday morning west of highway 83.

In addition to the blowing snow, expect temperatures to fall through the day. Dangerous wind chills of 25 to 40 below zero are expected across the entire region today through Thursday morning.

Travel will be impacted with snow drifts and blowing snow especially in open areas along highways and the interstate. Wind chill values (25 to) 40 below zero, visibilities under a half mile in blowing and drifting snow creating hazardous travel conditions.

Be sure to protect bare skin as  exposed skin can freeze in minutes with wind chills this cold.

In terms of air travel, flights across the nation have been canceled along the east coast in major cities like Boston, Wash.DC, Philly and New York City. As usual, when the system experiences this many cancellations, you can expect a ripple effect through out the entire nation as connecting flight will be delayed or canceled. Before traveling to the airport to connect with your flight, be sure to check with your carrier.
