8 Things Every North Dakotan Is Guilty Of Hoarding In Their Home
Sometimes we hang on to things a little too long. We either don't have time, or just don't feel up to the task at hand. No judgment here; I'm guilty of many of these, myself.
To make you feel better about your lifestyle choices, I've made a list of things every North Dakotan surely still has stashed in their home.
1. Cardboard Boxes
There are some boxes we keep because we think we might need them later (We don't) and others that just sit by the kitchen trash can for a week.
If you're like me, you might even toss some in your garage or extra bedroom and tell yourself you will break them down later, but then later never comes.
2. Old Shot Glasses
We LOVE to drink in North Dakota, but unless you are in your 20's or early 30's, it's time to let those go. Our college days are over, and they are just taking up space in your cabinet.
With that said, if you collect shot glasses, then you are excused from this.
3. Old Cell Phones
For some reason, many people hang on to their old cell phones. People like to keep them in the junk drawer or in the top of some random closet in a plastic bag.
Look, I get that they are nostalgic, but what is the end goal? Will you pass them down to future generations? -- Probably not. Let them goooo.
4. Old Makeup
This is something I, myself, am guilty of. Makeup is very expensive, so we hang onto it forever and ever. Problem is... it expires. It's time to let go of that three-year-old Urban Decay eyeshadow pallet that you only used two colors out of.
Make it ceremonious if you have to, but get it gone.
5. Old Textbooks
I get it; you paid a lot of money for those books. That said, if you're not in school anymore, and you still have 50 pounds worth of textbooks sitting on a shelf or closet somewhere, donate it to others who might need it for their studies.
It's okay. You can do it. You'll be fine.
6. School Band Instruments
If you still have a plastic recorder in your house, well, first, I'm impressed you were able to hang onto that so long, second, GET RID OF IT!
If you still play the instrument, then by all means, keep it. If not, you might want to consider donating it to a young, aspiring musician.
7. Incomplete Board Games
If you've ever said "It's only missing a few pieces" out loud, you need to do a board game purge. Scratch that. Have someone else do it. You clearly can't be trusted to do what's necessary when the time comes.
8. Mismatched Socks
Look, it's not your fault the dryer and/or monster under your bed eats them, but if the mate to a sock has been MIA for several months, you need to throw the other one away.
