Beloved Face of Kroll’s Diner Ads Dies at 88
Clara Hedin, regionally known for her Kroll's Diner commercials, died Thursday, January 28 at the age of 88.
Although she came off as a tough, German woman on camera, Hedin's family and friends describe her as 'a lot of fun to be around.' Hedin of Moorhead and Pat Sondrall of Fargo were cast to star in over 20 Kroll's Diner commercials beginning in 2000.
Hedin was discovered through a 'little old lady' search in order to find the new Kroll stars to sell the German inspired diner. She had previously worked in food service and a hospitality shop.
Hedin's costar, Sondrall, died at the age of 84 in 2013. However, Hedin continued to work at Kroll's until roughly two years ago when it became harder for her to get around.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 4 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral mass is on Friday, February 5 at the same location at 11 a.m.
Rest in peace to our favorite Kroll's lady. We will remember Clara every time we 'Sit down and eat!'
