Know it or not, there is a whole sub-culture that used to find everything from love to one night stands on the personal section of Craigslist. But all of that came to an abrupt change last week, without notice.

As of last week, Forbes is reporting, you'll will not be able to search the personal section on Craigslist, in large part due to a bill congress passed, that the President is expected to sign.

The bill will expand the criminal and civil liability of website owners in regards to sex trafficking. In other words, Craigslist can be held liable if charge by a court of law, for individuals that are being used and sold for sex.

No more personals, missed connections or strangers in the night looking for a one night anonymous hook-ups from Craigslist. For many, it has become a source of entertainment, reading the colorful personal ads from partners outing their spouses for being unfaithful.(not to mention the wack-o pictures)

Other internet hook-up sites are also protesting the move including Patreon, Cloudflare, Twitter, Match Group (the company that owns Tinder, OkCupid, Pinterest,) Wikimedia Foundation, Github, Medium, and Yelp.

You'll see the following announcement when clicking the personal section on Craigslist-

US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.

Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.

To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness!

The new regulations were published Thursday (3/22) on Craigslist.

Some internet services such as Reddit is taking a wait and see situation, but did highly protest the move from Congress.
