We found ourselves wondering if we'll ever be able to stop working or if retirement will simply become a dream that's out of reach for many people. While it doesn't erase the financial challenges many of us face, it does suggest there may be more reasons to feel hopeful about retirement than we often think.

North Dakota Ranks #4 for Affordable Retirement

Researchers at NetCredit crunched the numbers and ranked North Dakota as the 4th most affordable state in the U.S. to retire. They looked at the cost of living in every state and calculated how much money you'd need to retire comfortably.

The study factored in typical retirement expenses like housing, healthcare, groceries, and transportation. Thanks to North Dakota’s lower overall costs, retirees here can enjoy peace of mind without having to sell the farm - literally.

What You’ll Need to Retire Here

According to their research, you’d need about $725,851 to retire comfortably here. That still sounds like a lotbut it’s significantly lower than in many other parts of the country.

So I guess if we’re all going to grow old together, split the bills, and share a kitchen, North Dakota’s not a bad place to do it. I’m just calling dibs on the bedroom with the best view.
