The standout moment of the address was the report about how the city performed financially last year and the outlook for 2025.

"We budgeted for a 1.28 [million dollar] surplus, but are ending up at a 19.4 [million dollar] surplus at the time that we recorded this, and what that means is it really represents our philosophy of budgeting conservatively." City of Williston Director of Finance Hercules Cummings.

Cummings also noted that the city was projected to operate in a 6.12 million dollar deficit in 2025 due to the city's recommitment to engineering projects that have been deferred. During the State of the City address, the city officially announced the arrival of two new businesses.

There's going to be a brand-new experience for baseball and softball enthusiasts. We will soon welcome D-Bat of Williston." Williston Economic Development Executive Director Anna Nelson.

D-Bat will be a premier indoor training facility for baseball and softball training and will be the first of its kind in the state. Also joining will be 7 Brew Coffee, which held a ceremonial groundbreaking at city hall.

According to the 7 Brew website:

"7 Brew is so much more than just a coffee stand. It’s the concept of cultivating kindness and joy with every drink – through our service, speed, quality, energy and atmosphere. It’s contagious and it’s changing the drive-thru coffee industry."

During her address to the city, Nelson also teased that there may be national food franchises announced soon.
