Community Steps Up With School Supply Drive In Williston

It's almost time for students in Williston, North Dakota to head back to class. The first day of school is August 19, 2025, and families are already gearing up to buy supplies. But for many, those essentials are financially out of reach.
Local Nonprofits Step Up to Help
The Olive Motherhood Foundation is once again responding to the call for school supplies. This year, they’ve partnered with Compassion Keepers Kloset to organize a supply drive from July 28 through August 8.
The supplies and backpacks will be given out August 10th to families that pre register here. (deadline is 4pm on 7-30-2025)
About the Olive Motherhood Foundation
Founded in 2022 by Jocci Rice, the Olive Motherhood Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports mothers and families in the Williston area. Some of their most popular programs and events include:
- Classes for moms
- Annual Murder Mystery Fundraiser Dinner
- Battle of the Businesses Food Drive
- Themed Bingo Nights
- Family field trips (fire stations, airport, etc.)
- Book club and book exchanges
- The Williston Community Garden
About Compassion Keepers Kloset
Compassion Keepers Kloset, LLC is a nonprofit that serves children in foster care, many of whom arrive without personal belongings. They provide essential items including:
- Clothing and underwear
- Blankets and toiletries
- Feminine hygiene products
- Backpacks and school supplies
- Books and toys
Owners Dakota Juma and Samantha Mednis are dedicated to supporting foster families with supplies donated by the community.

Adopt a Backpack
Organizers are also coordinating a Backpack Adoption program. Families in need can receive pre-filled backpacks (excluding shoes and clothing). You can help by adopting a backpack and doing the shopping or donating funds and letting the team do it for you.
