Swipe, Show, Go: North Dakota Debuts Digital Driver’s License

Wow, when I think of the progress that has been made over the past 20 - 30 years, it blows my mind

I've said this many times before: I am all about progress. I know some people get lost in all of the latest innovations, and some wonder WHY changes are made. Well, I, for one, am all about making things easier, more efficient, and more convenient, and that is exactly what NDDOT has done.

"The introduction of North Dakota Mobile ID..."

This is an opportunity to securely present their IDs using their mobile apps. According to a media press release from this morning, "The North Dakota Department of Transportation announced today the introduction of North Dakota Mobile ID, which enables the ability to add a driver’s license or state ID to a digital wallet and seamlessly and securely present their IDs using their mobile device.

Users can present their ID in Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or Samsung Wallet in person at more than 250 TSA airports across the country as well as businesses and venues. Users are also able to present their ID online and in select apps as well.

How will this technology make life easier for Bismarck and North Dakota residents?

NDDOT Director Ron Henke.had this to say “We’re excited to offer North Dakota residents this new and convenient option to securely present their driver’s licenses and state IDs using their devices, This technology will allow users to quickly display their ID and have transparency over the personal information they share.”
