Time To Confess – Who Are You Rooting For This Saturday In ND?
Ahh, the great rivalry of College football
Two teams not terribly far away from each other, less than 100 miles, actually. One school is generally a powerhouse when it comes to football; on the other hand, the OTHER school is a force when it comes to hockey. They usually play each other every year, alternating home fields. One of these two schools has WON 18 national championships, the other has WON 8 national championships - If you haven't guessed by now, North Dakota State is a beast when it comes to football, the University of North Dakota is vastly superior in hockey.
This Saturday, the Bison are visiting the Fighting Hawks
NDSU is atop the MVFC at 9 and 0 on the season, and they have won 13 games in a row - UND is in 2nd place and they are at 6 and 3 overall. I have firsthand seen just how serious both of these teams' fans can be. Back in 2014, I had just moved to Fargo from San Diego, California. My roommate is probably one of the most avid Bison fans you'll ever see - the room that I stayed in had wall-to-wall NDSU items - wallpaper, bed sheets, posters, bobblehead dolls. I will never forget the first time I had to drive to Grand Forks.

"Hey, you better take this jacket, it gets cold out there..."
I was about ready to leave one day, to make my way out to Grand Forks to record at a radio station. I had my own jacket on, but apparently it wasn't warm enough to suit my roommate, who handed me a Green Bison Jacket. "Here, take mine, they LOVE NDSU out there" - Something told me he was full of you-know-what, so I politely declined his generous offer. SO, living here in Bismarck, and Mandan - who will you be roioting for?
:Footnote:
Last time they played in Grand Forks: October 14th, 2023

NDSU 24
