One State Is Proposing Banning Hunting, Fishing, & More
Making hunting, fishing, trapping, livestock slaughter, and even rodeos illegal. Does this sound like a sportsman's nightmare? It sure does to me. When videos started showing up in my social media feeds yesterday on this topic, I figured it had to be a joke or clickbait. Upon further investigation, unfortunately, it's 100 percent true, and one state has collected enough signatures to put this measure on the ballot.
The State? Oregon!
Radical animal activists are behind this. No surprise here, I'm sure you've seen videos of these "low lifes" harassing the hunting and fishing community. Here's a classic one from last year's duck season in Washington State. WARNING: Very FOWL language. No pun intended.

Details on the Oregon Hunting and Fishing Ban
According to Newsweek, a ballot measure that would effectively outlaw hunting, fishing, livestock slaughter, and other activities with animals, such as rodeos, will likely go to a vote among the state's citizens. Supporters say they have gathered more than 120,000 signatures, more than the needed 117,000 required to get on the November 2026 ballot. YIKES!
Could This Happen In North Dakota?
Thankfully, NO! We have laws in place to protect our hunting and fishing way of life. Also, the harassment of hunters and fishermen is also ILLEGAL. In the North Dakota Century Code, it lays it out like this. "North Dakota law prohibits hunter harassment, making it illegal to intentionally interfere with the lawful taking of wildlife." You can find this in (NDCC) section 20.1-01-31.
I wonder if these "crazies" in Oregon realize that sportsmen are the biggest conservationists and contributors to wildlife habitat. Without legal hunting and fishing, populations of wildlife will not be kept in check, leading to disease and potential mass die-offs, not to mention that deer/vehicular collisions will happen significantly more. I wonder whether these animal activists think their steaks are going to come from if this becomes law (assuming they're not all vegetarians)?
I think this VIDEO from the Patriotic Peach says it all. Sportsmen & women all across the country need to be vigilant for groups like this trying to sneak legislation into our governments. Think this could never happen in North Dakota? I would like to think so, but you never know.
