Opening Date Announced For Little Taste Of Mexico Bismarck
The Closure of Little Cottage Cafe
We lost Little Cottage Cafe in Bismarck back in October of 2025. It all started with health issues for one of the owners. Little Cottage was literally legendary when it came to cafes in the Capital Region. They were known for many tasty dishes, and they were praised for their treats like caramel rolls, scotcheroos, and so many others. You can read more about what started as reduced hours and eventually led to a full-blown closure below.

Since then, Little Cottage has been vacant for many months. There has been a lot of speculation on what might move into the space. Some thought Big Boy would expand and take up that valuable piece of real estate on Main, but that is not the case.
I received a tip a while back from a friend who was told by an employee at a Mexican Restaurant that they will be moving from their location to the former Little Cottage Cafe spot. As it turned out, that was true. In fact, ironically, this restaurant also has "Little" in its title.
A Little Taste of Mexico Set to Open
According to a Facebook post from the Little Taste of Mexico, they will be opening this Saturday, August 29th at 11 am. Here's a shot of the remodeled building.
The Glow Up
It looks like they put some work into the outside of the building and the parking lot. I'm excited to see the inside of the building. The family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant is known for its authentic, homemade-style food with generous portions, including popular items like Carne Asada fries, street tacos, and burritos.
A Little Taste of Mexico is currently located at 2700 State Street in Bismarck, in the Gateway Mall. This location is reported to be closing this week. We wish them well in their new venture.
