High Times: 4:20ish Exploding Gas Prices In North Dakota!
Gas Prices in Bismarck-Mandan
I'm finally at the point where I have to come to terms with these insane gas prices. I'm just not going to be able to afford to do all the things I normally do in the spring or summer, and that involves traveling. You see, I'm a big fisherman, and I have a lake cabin that is over 4 hours away. I just can't justify weekly trips when it costs $100 dollars plus to fill up the gas tank of my truck.
I know I'm not alone. I've been asking my listeners if they have been having to cut back on items or activities because of high gas prices, and it's been pretty unanimous.
According to GasBuddy, North Dakota actually has some of the cheapest gas prices in the country, with most stations around $4.10 across the state, but they do run as high as $4.40 a gallon in the northwest part of the state. Gas prices in Bismarck-Mandan range from $4.09 to $4.29 a gallon. YIKES!
How Much Higher Can it Go?
The National average for a gallon of gas across the country is currently at $4.56. I don't have good news according to some news outlets like NPR.
Driven by the war in Iran, gas prices could rise toward $5 or higher if oil reaches $150 a barrel, thanks to disruptions from the conflict. Some estimates suggest a potential for $6 per gallon by this summer if the supply crisis persists.
North Dakota's All-Time Record Gas Prices
In case you are keeping track at home, the most we have ever paid for gas prices in North Dakota was back in June of 2022, and that was thanks to the start of the War between Russia and Ukraine and high inflation, where prices topped off at $4.79 per gallon. We are headed in that direction, and potentially much higher.
This still blows my mind. I thought we were supposed to be energy independent in America? So much for that. I may have to buy myself a moped scooter.
