Hard to believe it, but here we go again with the start of another school year in Bismarck-Mandan.

I talked about this on-air yesterday, but it seems like school begins earlier and earlier each year.

To start school on August 19th just seems insane to me. We are looking at 90-degree weather much of this week, and that kind of weather still screams summer vacation to me.

Now, I have been out of school much longer than I care to admit, but I still get those butterflies in my stomach when this time of year rolls around. I'm not sure what it is, but you never forget those feelings from your youth.

I can still hear that first bell of the school year, and all the anxious feelings that go with it.

Our friends at Niche have ranked the top North Dakota Public High Schools in the state for 2025.

Their findings are based on reviews from students and parents, academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education, along with test scores and college data.  Only one of our schools in the Bismarck-Mandan area made the top 10.

However, we did have four area high schools that made the top 25.

(Keep in mind, these are public high schools only)
