North Dakota Ice Cream Shop Named One Of The 50 Best!

Summertime and ice cream just go hand in hand.

I have been pretty much an ice cream connoisseur for most of my life. Ice cream and pizza are pretty much the same. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good.

Chocolate chip, butterbrickle, peppermint bonbon, maple nut, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, and even vanilla ice cream, topped with your favorite syrup (chocolate, butterscotch, or caramel), it all screams summertime in North Dakota.

My personal favorite ice cream shop in the region is about 4 hours from Bismarck.

Yes, I know that is a long way to drive for ice cream, but it just might be worth it, as people really do come from all over the country to this little purple place of goodness. I'm talking about the Purple Cow in Waubay, South Dakota.

They have the best CINNAMON ice cream I have ever had before. That's right, I said cinnamon. You will find other very unique flavors of ice cream often featured at the Purple Cow.

You can even pick up some meat for the grill at the Purple Cow, as Jorgenson Meat Store is also inside the Purple Cow.

It just happens to be a short drive from my lake cabin, so we usually make a Purple Cow run at least once or twice each trip to the lake. Find out more about this little gem in the other Dakota below.
