I will be the first to say that I have no authority on child rearing, but I would hope that I would never lose a child. In all my younger years of babysitting and nannying, I was successful in that. But I can't imagine what it would be like to not know where your kid is. Unfortunately, there was a toddler found wandering all alone in Minot this morning (Thursday).

According to KFYR-TV, a 27-year-old man in Minot was arrested on Thursday (July 2) morning, for allegedly neglecting a two-year-old that somehow managed to get outside by itself. The news report says that the toddler was found wandering around a parking lot, all alone, in only a diaper. The story says that the man was looking for the child at some point, but he was still arrested for neglect and the toddler is currently in the care of child protective services. Now, I know I can't imagine what a child going missing is like, but I know what it's like to find one. Well, sort of. My story of finding a wandering child isn't dramatic, but it was for a minute at the time. Keep reading to learn more.

I believe it was two summers ago that I found the little kid. I was living in Grand Forks, heading to my apartment, when I spotted this toddler out of the corner of my eye. I actually drove right past, not registering the fact that I saw a small child outside with not adult in sight. Long story short, I called the police and sat with him until his sisters frantically ran out of their place - he escaped the back yard. It was all over in less than 15 minutes. But it was so weird, to say the least.
