Time to turn it up to 11, as I have come up with a list of 11 movies that mention our great state of North Dakota.  Some of these movies were supposedly set in North Dakota, however only one was actually filmed in North Dakota.  I'll get to that a little bit later.

In fact, I auditioned to be an extra in this movie, that at the time nobody had heard much about.  Some of my co-workers and I went to an audition at a hotel in Grand Forks, ND.  To be honest, we weren't particularly excited about the opportunity.  It was more of just something to do.  Some movie nobody had heard much about and I personally had no idea who Frances McDormand, William H. Macy, or Steve Buscemi were.  It was a little known movie called "FARGO."  As it turned out I got the part.  Not only that, I was told on the phone it would probably include a speaking line.  I have to admit, I was pretty jacked when I got the call.  I was the only one from my crew that did.  However, it would require me to be available for 10 hour days for 14 days straight and filming would start immediately.  I was working in radio in Grand Forks, ND at the time and I presented the opportunity to my boss.  They told me there was no way I could take that much time off all at once.  I would have to decline.  I was a little upset but figured, oh well, I never really had aspirations of being a movie star.  This movie would probably never even make it on the shelves of Blockbuster.  That's what I kept telling myself anyway.  I was also pretty new on the job at that time, so I didn't want to "rock the boat."

Now, only a small part of the movie "Fargo" was filmed in North Dakota. (Most of it was filmed in the Twin Cities)  They were following the snow line in the winter of 95.  It was an unusually warm winter and snow was hard to find.  Most of the outdoor scenes were filmed around Bathgate, North Dakota and NW Minnesota.  That's where I would've came in.  That's if, I would've been allowed to have the part.  I can't help but wonder, would that have been my big break?  I guess we'll never know.  Even Bismarck got a shot out in the film "Fargo".

So, without further ado here is my list of "Movies That Mention North Dakota".
