This month of September is near and dear to my heart - It brings an opportunity for a new life for countless people here in Bismarck and Mandan that are suffering every day. When you find yourself trapped in a dark world of addiction, nothing seems possible to restore your life and bring you the sober rewards that you deserve.

September is National Recovery Month

President Biden has proclaimed September 2021 as National Recovery Month. "This observance reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover". I know out of life experience that I'm extremely grateful for the people and the resources that were made available to help save my life.

Taking that first step is always the hardest

If it's yourself or a loved one that is going through the fight against addiction, there are resources you can read up on places here in Bismarck that will answer all your questions. The hardest part of it all is taking that first step - to finally admit that you have a problem. By clicking here you will find information on programs that will hopefully work the best. Nothing is guaranteed to be 100% successful, the will and desire come from just how damaged and spent your life has come to, how much WANT do you seek to surrender completely.

"God, I offer myself to Thee..

..To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt". That is the first couple of sentences from the Alcoholics Anonymous - big book - Third Step Prayer. I and 39 others recited that twice a day for over 3 months when I lived in a recovery home in San Diego 12 and a half years ago. My sobriety date is 2-17-09, and to me, there is nothing more powerful than that prayer. Please if you or anyone else is at the point of giving up on life, just know that there is a way out.
