Van Morrison and the Who to Headline 2015 Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts
The Teenage Cancer Trust, the charity founded by Roger Daltrey, has announced that its annual week of benefit concerts, which will be held on March 23-28 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Van Morrison (March 25) and the Who (March 26) will headline two of those nights.
NME reports that the other major performers include Stereophonics (March 23), comedian Kevin Bridges (March 24), Paul Weller (March 27) and Noel Gallager’s High Flying Birds (March 28). It’s a reunion of sorts for the concerts, which is now in its 15th year. Weller, Gallagher and Sterophonics singer Kelly Jones played, along with the Who, the first benefit in 2000.
"To be back for our 15th year at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust is an incredible achievement,” Daltrey said. “This is all made possible by the loyalty of the music and comedy business. Paul, Noel and Kelly were there for the first event, and many thereafter. I can't thank them enough for being back with us this year."
Supporting the Who will be Wilko Johnson, the Dr. Feelgood guitarist who recorded ‘Going Back Home’ with Daltrey last year. Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr will open up for Weller, and Future Islands will play before Gallagher.
Tickets go on sale Friday. You can find about more about the concerts, and the Teenage Cancer Trust in general, at the website.
