If you know your history of MLB players from North Dakota, the career-hit leader from our state isn't a big surprise.

It seems that someone took the time to research MLB players from all 50 states, and the District of Columbia in order to find out who the top hitting players were from each state. It's not much of a shocker that the MLB career-hit leader from North Dakota is none other than Darin Erstad.

During his 14-year career, Erstad finished with 1,697 total hits. Those numbers are certainly nothing to scoff at as the Jamestown native finished with a respectable lifetime batting average of .282.

Travis Hafner, also from Jamestown, had a total of 1,107 hits in his 12-year career with a lifetime .273 average. If you were to combine Hafner and Erstad's hit total, it comes out to 2,804, which is 74 percent of the 3,784 total hits MLB players from North Dakota have ever had. To put that in perspective, just as SB Nation did, that total number of 3,784 MLB hits from players hailing from North Dakota is just 13 more than Hank Aaron had throughout his entire career.
