The Most Dangerous Month, Day & Time To Drive In North Dakota
No way to sugarcoat it. We have some terrible drivers in Bismarck Mandan, and North Dakota for that matter.
I recently conducted a pretty thorough study with our listeners both on-air and online. You can read all about that here.
From people not using their blinkers to being utterly clueless about what to do at open intersections (uncontrolled), or driving 10, 15, or even 20 miles below the speed limit, there are a lot of reasons not to like Bismarck Mandan drivers.
Let's face it, terrible drivers create dangerous driving situations.
I live in a development with zero stop signs and all open intersections or uncontrolled intersections. Just the other day, I was behind a woman in a little blue SUV, who decided to go racing through an open intersection, where a Fed Ex driver clearly arrived first.
Thankfully, the Fed Ex driver stopped, even though he shouldn't have had to, or one of them would've got t-boned. Again, this a case of somebody not knowing the rules of the road.
In case you need a refresher, whoever arrives first at an uncontrolled intersection gets to go first. You treat it like a 4 way stop sign intersection. If you arrive at the same time, then you yield to the left of you.
I ran across a new study of the most dangerous times to drive in North Dakota that caught my eye.
According to Assurance, here's when you should be on your toes when it comes to driving in North Dakota.
The most dangerous day to drive in North Dakota is Wednesday for some reason, accounting for the highest % of fatal crashes. I would've bet money on a Friday or Saturday.
The most dangerous month to drive in North Dakota is July, according to the total number of fatal crashes. I would've guessed a winter month like January or February. I'm guessing alcohol plays a big factor in July fatalities.
The most dangerous time to drive in North Dakota is between 4 and 5 pm, with the highest % of fatal crashes occurring at this time across the state.
