Right away, let me say I have very little in my fridge.  Seriously, I'm down to only food you bake or fry from the freezer.   Got some meats I should defrost- just have to remember to do so. Honestly, outside the sugary sweet snack stash,  there's not much that's too tempting here. I ate all the peanut butter.  I always do.

I am not slipping into your shoes...but let me say that Bismarck Public Schools and Mandan Public Schools are making free lunch for kids available for part of the summer- click here for Bismarck and here for Mandan.  (likely schools in your neighborhood are available too)

Bismarck Summer Times

Bismarck Public Schools offers a FREE summer lunch program for local kids ages 18 and under Monday-Friday through June 30. There will NOT be weekend food distributions at these sites on Fridays.

11-11:30 am: Lions Park, Centennial Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Solheim Elementary, Miller Elementary, and Kiwanis Park.

11:30 am-12:30 pm: Wachter Middle School, Century High School, Bismarck High, Moses Elementary, Legacy High, Lincoln Elementary, and Liberty Elementary School.

11:45 am-12:15 pm: Will-Moore, Grimsrud Elementary, Pioneer, Myhre, and Murphy Elementary Schools, and Ministry on the Margins (201 N 24th St, east parking lot).

12:30-1 pm: Sunrise Elementary School.

Mandan Summer Times

summer meals program will start on June 1 at new locations:

  • Mary Stark Elementary School: 405 8th Ave SE; 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Custer Elementary School: 205 8th Ave NE; 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 pm
  • Roosevelt Elementary School: 305 10th Ave NW (bus loop); 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Mandan Middle School: 2901 12th Ave NW (front parking lot); 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Ft. Lincoln Elementary School: 2007 8th Ave SE (front parking lot); 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m

Schools, we missed you much.  So much, that summer visits are not such a bad thing.  Please use these resources when you need them. They are there for you and your kids.  Because that's what schools do.
