Many a college kid has dragged themselves at 8 AM to their elective Ethics class.  If you needed to have a Philosophy credit, it's a better pick than Existensialism.

Any self-respecting Ethics class will pose this query to their drowsy class:

Male hand pushing emergency red stop button.

Click on that highlighted link if you want the backstory...but you should be fine without it.

So, you could have something you desired, but there would be a consequence for just one of the now nearly 7.8 billion people on the planet!  Odds are good you don't know them.

In it's simplest form the query goes a little like this....

IF YOU PUSH THE RED BUTTON- ONE RANDOM PERSON, AMONG NEARLY 8 BILLION BEINGS ON THE PLANET,  WILL DIE.

YOU WILL RECEIVE ONE MILLION DOLLARS FOR PUSHING THAT BUTTON.

Do you push it?

I feel like we should pause here and allow some contemplative thinking and discussion. Talk it over with friends, family, and co-workers then continue reading at your discretion.

You thought this was going to be argumentative and not just ethical? Well, here then is the burr under your saddle.

A woman in her twenties dies from the coronavirus

The McKenzie County woman who died had no underlying health conditions, the state Department of Health reported Tuesday. Only two other people in the state who died with COVID-19 have fallen into that category.

I'm not sure if that changes the narrative that obviously has been developing now for weeks.

Schools MUST open. Kids MUST have socialization. Sports MUST stay on schedule.

All beliefs sincerely held by a great many great people. People, that must have deep down inside, came to this conclusion: the loss of individuals over 80 with preexisting conditions (like my dad) is a tragic trade-off for a smart restart and a sense of social and economic normalcy.  Similar to my mindset when the time comes to euthanize a beloved pet of mine that has grown old and lives in pain.  I believe the phrase is "you just know when it's time".  It is not time for my dad- not by a long shot.

Let's go back to the red button.

Y'all really prepared to push it?
