A Little Caesars in Fargo, ND is doing its part in helping out those in need. The franchise is also donating pizzas to local shelters throughout the Fargo community.

In May 2015, Jenny and Mike Stevens opened their own Little Caesars franchise at 1020 19th Ave N. in the North Fargo area. As reported earlier this week on the Today Show, Jenny and Mike noticed people going through their dumpsters in search of a free meal. This led the owners to put up a sign outside their franchise that reads:

To the person going through our trash for their next meal, You’re a human being and worth more than a meal from a dumpster. Please come in during operating hours for a couple of slices of hot pizza and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.

The franchise has now handed out over 142,000 slices of free pizza, including what they've donated to local area shelters in the Fargo community.

Unfortunately, Mike Stevens passed away last year from a bout with leukemia. However, Jenny, along with the rest of her family have continued their efforts to help the needy.

In an interview with 'TODAY Food', Jenny said credited her late husband with the continued efforts of the franchise helping the needy:

He really, really pursued this. It’s a small thing that we can do to bring a big difference in their day and it's just kept going. You have to come together to help each other out. We just do it because it seems like the right thing to do.

It's great to see a business in North Dakota get some national recognition for all the good they're doing to help out their community.
