Bill Proposed to Raise Smoking Age from 18 to 19
A bill proposed in the North Dakota House would prohibit the sale of tobacco and other related products to individuals under 19 years of age.
Under the current law, the sale of tobacco, electronic smoking devices and other related nicotine products is prohibited to minors.
A minor refers to anyone under the age of 18.
The bill was presented by Rep Pamela Anderson. We have reached out to her to ask why she wants to raise the age requirement for purchasing tobacco and will update this article if and when she responds.
UPDATE 1/20 8:18AM - Rep Pam Anderson tells us she put forth this legislation so that way an individual would need to be out of High School before they can buy cigarettes.
