Electronic Posting Of Land Is Coming Soon

The hunting landscape in North Dakota is about to move into a new technology era.  Landowners in Slope, Richland and Ramsey counties will now be able to "post" their land with a click of the mouse according to an article on KX News.

This is part of a pilot project with the North Dakota Game and Fish and if you post your land on-line, you'll still need to physically "post" signs on your land for this upcoming hunting season.  The North Dakota Game and Fish hope to have the website up and running by late this week or early next week.  Officials from Game and Fish are checking the usability of the app and proof of concept.  This app is something that would be used in the future, that would change existing laws concerning "trespassing" in the state of North Dakota.

Landowners in Slope, Richland and Ramsey counties will have until July 15th to post their land if they wish.  Existing posted signs will supersede any open areas on the app.  Which means if landowners already have "posted" signs up, they do not need to electronically post their land as well.

This is an experiment that The State Interim Natural Resources Committee voted to approve unanimously on Monday afternoon as a new on-line tool for landowners and hunters.  Again, this is a pilot project and landowners will still need to post signs for the 2020-2021 hunting seasons in these counties.

The 2019 legislature had many contentious debates over the posting of land in North Dakota.  It caused the "ND Lock Out" movement as pictured on the sign above, south of Lincoln, ND.  It will be interesting to see if this concept is feasible and if it will become North Dakota law in the future.
