Sure, every family seems to enjoy the turkey, stuffing, yams and mac and cheese. But every state has a signature dishes that reflects that state's heritage or culture.

Remember when we use to only bake the turkey? Now you have families frying the bird and even smoking turkey. Traditions change through the years, but some things remain the same.

Regardless, it's all so good.

The signature dish for North Dakota is Lefse. That delicious thin potato-dough flatbreads like Scandinavian tortillas, and there is no shortage of what you can top your lefse with. Some like just plain butter and sugar. You can get the recipe here.

Here are some other signature dishes from other states that sound so good!

  • Maine- lobster mac and cheese (this sounds too good to be true!)
  • Georgia- pecan pie
  • Minnesota- grape salad (eww!)
  • Montana- marinated venison steaks
  • South Dakota- pear kuchen
