Isn't It Ironic, Semi Driver In ND Hauling Alcohol Charged With D

Somebody cue Alanis Morissette, isn't it "Ironic", it's like rain on your wedding day.

According to a press-release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, one person was injured and a three vehicle pile up happened north of the 32nd exit on interstate 29 near Grand Forks yesterday afternoon. What's so "ironic" is a semi driver hauling ALCOHOL has been charged with DUI.

Bryan Foos, 54 or Mobeetie, Texas, the driver of the party semi truck was uninjured.

A second semi driver Glen Bergquist, Jr. male; age 60; of Grand Forks, ND was uninjured. A third driver, Christopher Swenson, age 33 of Bismarck, North Dakota suffered minor injuries but is expected to be okay. Swenson was driving a 2019 Chevy Silverado.

No charges were filed against Swenson and Bergquitst.

Bryan Foos however will face several charges. Including, Care Required, DUI, Possession of Alcohol in Commercial Motor Vehicle, Illegally Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Here's his mug shot courtesy of the Grand Forks County Jail.

:Foos was driving the Kenworth north on Interstate 29. Bergquist was driving the Mack north on Interstate 29, having just entered the highway. Swenson was driving the Chevrolet south on Interstate 29.

The front of the Kenworth struck the rear of the Mack’s trailer. Bergquist drove the Mack to the right-hand shoulder and stopped. The Kenworth entered the median where it struck the high-tension cable barrier and continued northward along the barrier. Swenson had driven the Chevrolet into the median as an evasive action when it appeared the Kenworth was going to enter the southbound lanes. The front of the Kenworth struck the front of the Chevrolet as the Kenworth came to a stop against the cable barrier.

Several hundred feet of median cable barrier were damaged. However, the barrier prevented the Kenworth from crossing the median and entering the southbound lanes. Interstate 29 traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction for approximately three hours for emergency response and clean-up. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
