Helping Girls Thrive: BIO Girls Expands Opportunities in Western North Dakota
Helping children build confidence, develop healthy relationships, and learn valuable life skills is an investment that can last a lifetime. That's exactly what BIO Girls aims to do, and families in the Williston area have an opportunity to take part in the program this fall.
BIO Girls, which stands for Beautiful, Inside and Out, is a preventive mental wellness program designed specifically for girls in 2nd through 6th grade. The organization's mission is to protect and improve the mental health of adolescent girls by empowering them to recognize their self-worth while building meaningful connections with others.
Building Confidence Before It Matters Most
Through a series of engaging lessons and activities, participants learn important life skills centered around four key areas: emotional coping, resilience, healthy relationships, and self-worth. The goal is to equip girls with the tools they need to navigate challenges, overcome societal pressures, and recognize their inherent value.
Research has shown that girls experience mental health challenges at nearly twice the rate of boys. Studies also indicate that girls' self-esteem is typically at its highest around third grade before declining significantly by sixth grade. BIO Girls focuses on this important stage of development, helping participants build confidence before those struggles become more pronounced.

The Williston BIO Girls program will meet Mondays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

There is a tuition cost to participate, but financial assistance is available, helping ensure that cost doesn't become a barrier for families who would benefit from the program.
BIO Girls is also offered in Stanley and Minot, giving families across northwestern North Dakota additional opportunities to participate.
