There have been concerning rumors of Costco ending the very popular $1.50 All Beef Hot Dog combo special. Here is the latest. 

One of the most popular things that Costco stores in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and across the nation offer is the $1.50 Hot Dog combo special.

If you are a Costco member you know that you can stop by the food court and get ¼ pound All Beef Hot Dog and 20 oz soda with refill for only $1.50.

Costco has had a change in leadership and there has been a rumor that Costco's long-time $1.50 Hot Dog deal may be in jeopardy of seeing a price increase.

Despite inflationary pressures that would justify a much higher price, Costco has intentionally kept the cost of its hot dog combo meal at just $1.50.

This pricing strategy, known as a loss leader, involves selling a popular item at a loss or near loss to attract and retain customers to the warehouse club.

By absorbing the hit on the hot dog combo, Costco aims to boost customer loyalty and overall sales volumes across its stores.

If the price of Costco's $1.50 Hot Dog Combo had kept up with inflation it would cost around $4.50 today.

New Chief Finance Officer Gary Millerchip was speaking on to investors and analysts during a Costco earnings call and addressed the topic of increasing the price of the wiener meal deal.

CFO Gary Millerchip stated: “To clear up some recent media speculation, I also want to confirm the $1.50 hot dog price is safe.”

I was happy to hear that...it means my date night meal will still cost me less that $5.00.
