The 12th Annual "Bucks For Bras" was held last night...

...at a new location. Bismarck Elks Club ( Lodge ) was full of support with beads, bras, and a ton of smiles. The goal as always was to raise money for the Bismarck Cancer Center.  "The “Bucks for Bras” Benefit Auction highlights the talents of area artists through the glamorization of the brassiere. The bras are donated and adorned with materials such as gemstones, feathers, fur, and tinker toys, just to name a few…. “Bucks for Bras” attendees have the opportunity to bid on these one-of-a-kind wearable pieces, as well as other non-wearable works of art"

This was my first year attending this show

Coming in out of the rain on a cold Wednesday late afternoon, everyone attending the event was met with warm smiles and happy volunteers - this was the first sign of a warm evening to come.

We were all assigned a table, and looking around the room it was quite impressive to see people, loved ones, take their seats.

The man behind it all

Brad Erickson - "Seeing the same people, AND the first timers - talking to survivors - it's so inspirational. I have some models that have come back for the last 8 years. We all come together for one cause"  - Listen, Brad, you inspire people as well. In fact, I saw so many people who used to work for him at Borrowed Bucks volunteering - that's a statement of love right there.

I sat down at our table and saw a wonderful woman surrounded by her family

Her name is Lynn Kriechbaumer - She was diagnosed June 11th with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. "It's fantastic being here, I didn't expect all of this" - Standing right by her side were her two daughters and one sister. Lori, Jessica, and Brittany, - this is what "Bucks For Bras" is all about - family love and support.

Andi Ahne from Hot 97.5 was the co-host for her third year in a row

"Seeing all the cancer survivors, knowing how important it is for each and everyone to have a support system - and this event brings out a sense of love from our community"

A very emotional quilt

As of today, there is not a dollar amount on how much was raised last night - for those who heard Brad's emotional story about a quilt that sadly was not finished - his wife lost her battle with cancer - his sister finished it, and it was auctioned off - this will continue on as the same quilt will be auctioned off again next year. Thank you to all who were there at Elks Lodge - a night to never forget.
