For many of us, as we awoke this morning our memories were still crystal clear of one terrible day 22 years ago

If you happened to wake up this morning just a few minutes before the rude sound of your alarm clock, glancing at Facebook you no doubt ran across a common thread - "Do you remember 22 years ago at 7:46 am?"  That of course was central time, and if you had the TV on and you were making coffee, about ready to start your day, you saw in horror as the first plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City on a clear beautiful morning.

Riveted in shock and dismay you held your breath as the 2nd plane slammed into the South Tower just 17 minutes later...

...was our country collapsing? As the towers unbelievably crumbled to the ground all I could think about was the loss of lives, the innocent people that were simply at work, making a living. I remember wondering how much this act of demonic insanity was going to affect our freedom. Men and women have put on a uniform and have sacrificed their lives protecting what we all cherish ( and many times take for granted ) - yes our freedom.

Each passing year of this anniversary seems to go by so quickly...

yet for one day, September 11, 2001, every hour, minute, second was filled with heroism, honor, death, pride, scared, and wondering if our country would ever be safe again. I take a few minutes today to even try and imagine what was going through the minds of those who stared straight at death - the passengers who fought with the hijackers on the plane that crashed in a field near
