It’s Official: Bismarck’s Carson Wentz Is A Play Away
Breaking: Bismarck's Carson Wentz is Moving Up
According to multiple reports and head coach Kevin O'Connell, Carson Wentz will back up Kyler Murray this Sunday afternoon as the Vikings kick off their season this Sunday at 3:25 pm at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Green Bay Packers. Carson Wentz is officially the QB2 and is just a play away from being the starter. This is something I said would happen weeks ago. You read more about that below.

If you have caught any of the Minnesota Vikings preseason games this year, Carson Wentz has been about the only bright spot with the Minnesota offense. Kyler Murray barely played, and JJ McCarthy (the guy we kept in place of Sam Darnold) has been awful.
McCarthy's Status with the Vikings
He's officially QB3, although the head coach did say they would continue to evaluate the situation week to week. Don't bet on it. McCarthy is likely done with the Vikings, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Vikings trade him to some quarterback-needy team before the trade deadline. Although, don't expect to get a whole lot back (likely a 6th-round pick at best) for the former top-10 overall draft pick (what a reach and colossal mistake).
Carson's Role with the Vikings
Head coach Kevin O'Connell praised Wentz for all he's seen in the National Football League, and his experience is exactly what you want in a backup quarterback. Sounds like to me, McCarthy is now an afterthought, and likely won't see any action unless we run into a rash of injuries at the QB spot, and that is always a possibility.
Again, I have never understood the Carson Wentz hate in his hometown of Bismarck. These armchair quarterbacks need to get a grip and cheer for one of our own.
Here's to another season, and hoping the purple at least get back to the playoffs. SKOL!
