Could April 8th be the end of the world as we know it?

In case you have been living under a rock, on Monday, April 8th a rare occurrence will take place across the United States, a solar eclipse.  In fact, we won't see another solar eclipse in North America until 2044, 20 years from now.

It seems like whenever these rare events happen in the world, somebody decides to make a prediction this could be the end of the world.  This is something that has been going on for as long as I can remember.

Even in the 80s when I was just a boy there were predictions of the rapture or a cataclysmic date that would spell the end of mankind.

Just Google "Is April 8th the end of the world" and several dozens of articles will come up for you to fill your mind with conspiracy theories.

Again, this is nothing new.  Remember how Y2K was supposed to be the end of the world?  How about 2012 and the Mayan calendar supposedly predicting our doom?  There have been many, many others over the years.

I ran across a post on Facebook from the Bismarck Bubble sharing a document from the city of Bismarck about preparations for the solar eclipse.  This very funny document talks about avoiding the Gateway Mall during the eclipse or it could give you the false impression that the rapture has occurred because of its often empty halls (LOL).

There are several other "knee slappers" in this document that will sure to have laughing out loud (LOL).  Enjoy.

By the way, it's very unlikely the city of Bismarck actually did issue this document.  No offense, but I don't think they are that creative.

Also, I'm pretty sure we will all be here on April 9th, so I wouldn't go out and spend all your money this weekend.

LOOK: Do you see faces in these photos?

Pareidolia refers to the ability to see recognizable shapes, often faces, in random objects. Take a look at the photos below and see if you can identify any faces or shapes. Some are easy to spot, while others might be more challenging.
