Three years ago today fireworks were banned for Morton and Burleigh counties in south-central North Dakota.

Other counties around us such as Emmons, Grant, and others had also adopted a "no fireworks policy."  What a difference a few years can make.  This year the state is "green" and drought-free, burn bans are all but history, and it's "game on" for fireworks.

This year you don't have to worry about fireworks bans, but you should always use caution when shooting off fireworks in the country.  Have a shovel and some water along to help prevent wildfires. As always the public should check with their local jurisdictions for specific restrictions.

Keep in mind it continues to be illegal to shoot fireworks off in the city of Bismarck unless you have a special license to do so.

You are however allowed to shoot fireworks off within the city limits of Mandan and Lincoln (be sure to check for local restrictions).

Here's where you can get your Red, White, and Bang fun in and around the Bismarck Mandan area.
