Much Ado About Nothing.

It's the title of a comedic play written by William Shakespeare and it's an on-target description of the continuing climate in which we live. While I'm dredging out historical references, here's one from Sir Isaac Newton's Third Law of Motion

Whenever one object exerts a force on another object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite on the first

We know the law better as every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Although these days it's more like every action has an equal and opposite OVER reaction. Well okay then, I'm game...

MINNESOTA STATE SCHOOL SYSTEM TO REMOVE "LAW ENFORCEMENT"

Now before you start blowing up your social media with liberal Minnesota memes, let's understand that Minnesota "law enforcement" has been through a hell of a lot recently. So just maybe a change of culture is necessary to mend some fences with the public. Here's a portion of the recent email from administrators at Hennepin Technical College(HTC)

“One of the changes is that law enforcement has to be taken out of everything,” the email reads. “Meaning the website, business cards, sign out front, directional signs to the building and so on.”

Alpha News also reports that Hennepin Tech and other affected schools must pay for the changes themselves. It's a recommendation from Minnesota State's "Taskforce on Law Enforcement Education Reform" which in itself is in violation of its own recommendation.  So instead of references like HTC's Law Enforcement Education Center, names will now be changed to Professional Peace Officer Program.

Enforcing the peace versus enforcing the law.

The changes are being implemented not only to soften public perception but also to hopefully increase police recruitment.  The number of recruits has plummeted following the death of George Floyd. One of HTC's instructors tells Alpha News that student registration is down 80% in one of his skills courses.

Changes were to begin in April and now in October schools are required to provide final evidence that these drastic revisions are being implemented. Looking at the school's website it seems they still have a long way to go to completely remove law enforcement.

Interesting story but truly much ado about nothing.

Stay safe y'all.
