The word ABUSE can mean so much, and should never be taken lightly

When you hear the word abuse, how many different ways come into your mind? There are of course many. Mental and physical are the ones we hear about the most. When you are a public figure, a celebrity, a sports figure, your personal life is almost 100% exposed. Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook falls into the above category, and just recently his reputation has been damaged once again.

Accusations of assault, battery, and false imprisonment

According to startribune.com "...Gracelyn Trimble, 29, accused Cook of "giving me a concussion, leaving a scar on my face and taking me through hell. "Her lawsuit accuses the 26-year-old Cook of assault, battery, and false imprisonment" I can almost guarantee you that when people hear or read those accusations, they will already make up their mind without seeing or hearing the whole story. Although this isn't the first time he has been in some controversy. "Cook was charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly punching a woman outside a bar, though a jury acquitted him in August 2015" starttribune.com added. Cook's agent says that his client was a victim of domestic violence and possible extortion.

Can accusations like this ruin someone's career?

Well, take a look at Trevor Bauer, a pitcher from the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was involved with a woman who claimed he beat her up in a couple of situations. This went to court, and it was discovered that the physical abuse that happened during their encounters was because of "rough sex" that she had requested. text messages clearly showed her consent. Her permanent restraining order against him was dropped, but there are many Major League Baseball insiders saying he will probably never play again. So really only time will tell on this Dalvin Cook breaking story.
