The sole abortion provider in North Dakota could soon cease to exist. Are you aware of the repercussions that could come about if Roe v. Wade is successfully overturned?
Putting a complete ban on abortions can have some heavy consequences.
Foreign Policy wrote about the real-life events that happened after abortion was entirely outlawed. According to the article, after abortions were banned in Romania, these three things happened:
- Between 1965 and 1989 an estimated 10,000 women (and likely more) died from complications because of unsafe procedures.
- People seeking abortions and those who help them could face jail time.
- Hundreds of thousands of children were malnourished and severely abused in orphanages.
- Birth control was also outlawed
North Dakota Women's Network and Planned Parenthood will fight for reproductive rights.
A press release from Planned Parenthood - Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund states that the North Dakota Women's Network and Planned Parenthood will fight for reproductive rights. The Executive Director of North Dakota Women's Network, Kristie Wolff said that "171,000 North Dakotans of reproductive age risk losing access to safe and legal abortion." And who knows what reproductive rights could be on the line if abortion becomes outlawed?
