A sure sign that summer is waning?

Baseball state tournaments have begun around the state of North Dakota from Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, and now the Legion tournaments.  The Class A West Region tournament is going on this weekend in Watford City, North Dakota.  Including, the Mandan A's, Bismarck Reps, Bismarck Scarlets, Bismarck Senators and the Bismarck Capitals.

The North Dakota state AA Legion baseball tournament will begin Tuesday, not far from our studios at beautiful BNC National Bank and Trust Field in Mandan, North Dakota, July 27th to July 31st.

The tournament will feature the host team the Mandan Chiefs and the Bismarck Governors.

There are 9 teams in the state that play AA American Legion Baseball.  The top 8 teams make it to state.  The Mandan Chiefs finished 9th in the standings, but get an automatic bid to the tournament since they are the host team.  Bismarck finished 4th in the standings and will play the 5th seed in the state tournament.  The 7th and 8th place teams Fargo Post 400 and Williston will play a play in game tomorrow to see who gets the final state tournament birth.

Here's Tuesday's schedule from BNC National Bank and Trust Field.

Game 1 at 10 am  #2 Seed Fargo Post 2 vs. #7 Seed Williston/Fargo Post 400
Game 2 at 1 pm  #3 Seed Minot vs. #6 Seed Dickinson
Game 3 at 4 pm: #4 Seed Bismarck vs. #5 Seed Grand Forks
Game 4 at 7 pm: #1 Seed West Fargo vs. #8 Seed Mandan
The 4th seeded Bismarck Governors are expected to compete for the title.  They've played the top 3 teams in the standings ahead of them tough this season.  Bismarck, who will face the Grand Forks Royals in the first round, swept Grand Forks earlier this summer.  Best of luck to all of our local teams.
