POTUS Pitches Wall on TV

President Donald Trump takes to the air Tuesday evening to make a case for his border wall.

As the New York Times reported early Tuesday, the president, frustrated by the inability to strike a deal and end the ongoing government shutdown will try a more "broad-based" appeal on national TV.

This comes a day after the chief executive unleashed an "offensive" Monday to convince the public - by way of Congress - to front the necessary $5.7 billion to construct his wall.

The shutdown, now in its third week, is beginning to test the patience of many. Already it's affecting about 800,000 workers, many of whom will miss a paycheck this week.

The reaction to the president's announced address has been mixed: Senators Pelosi and Schumer say “if his past statements are any indication,” the address “will be full of malice and misinformation.”

ABC News vet Ted Koppel on the other hand says the networks should give the president the benefit of the doubt, at least for now, and hear what he has to say.
