Join Dorie and Velvet for a Sunday filled with passionate parents and colorful protest signs!  These two nice ladies have set up a Facebook page titled "Peaceful Protest Against Bismarck Public Schools".  They're inviting everyone to join them in letting your voices be heard.  Maybe bring a MEGAPHONE so you can really be heard!

I'm going to go ahead and submit this one-

"SCHOOL CARE, NOT DAY CARE!"

You can use it if you like- at least it rhymes.

With Fargo Public Schools sending junior high and senior high students back home to return to distance learning for a couple weeks, it's not unreasonable at this time for Dorie and Velvet to feel the need to get this conversation started right here in River City. Since they are referring to the event as a "protest", I'm going to assume these are their "demands".  From the Facebook page-

1. Need for ALL students K-12 back in school full-time
2. Honor request for “opt out” option for masks
3. Support in the Mental Health of our children
4. Get lockers back for students

I can really sympathize with the locker part.  Every girlfriend I ever had in high school had a locker nearby mine.  If I look in my high school yearbook photos, it seems clear now- I must have been obsessed with girls whose last name started with the same letter as mine.  Ah memories.

So run out and grab some markers and colorful construction paper.  Come up with some super slogans and make some protest signs with your kids. According to Facebook, the protest doesn't start until 5 PM Sunday.  Which is a shame.  Would have been a great excuse to skip the Viking game that starts at noon.  Certainly none of us fans can take much more of that abuse.

Speaking of school, If you were school age in the 80s you were learning these words for the first time!
