According to Time MONEY, the best free thing to do in North Dakota is take a visit to Sullys Hill National Game Preserve. Located near Devil's Lake, Sullys Hill was established as a National Park by Theodore Roosevelt in 1904 but was handed over to the US Fish and Wildlife Service during the Great Depression.

Wildlife including bison, deer and elk roam the 1,674 acre park.
