According to a release from Women's Way, "as many as 17,000 women in North Dakota could be eligible to receive free screenings." Things like age, income and insurance status are all considered to determine eligibility. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR WOMEN TO GET PREVENTATIVE BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER SCREENINGS?

Women's Way says that preventative screenings are beneficial because they can help stop cancer before it becomes malignant. According to the Women's Way website, mammography can detect cancer an average of 1.7 years before a woman can even feel a lump. And a cervical screening is meant to find precancerous lesions.
