Bismarck will be home to the newest 'Champions Indoor Football League' team starting in the 2017 season.

The Champions Indoor Football League is an arena football league that has existed since 2014. The Bismarck Event Center will be the home for Bismarck's team.

On Wednesday, the team will host a press conference introducing the management team as well as a University of Mary football player who has committed to be the team's first player.

The league currently has 14 teams and is continuing to expand.

Games are played on a 50 yard field, just like in the Arena Football League with field goal posts that are 10 feet wide, 10 feet off the ground and usually suspended from the ceiling.

Teams play 8 players at a time and there is no punting. Teams can either elect to go for it on 4th down or kick a field goal.

The season begins in March with the championship game played in June.

According to the contract signed by the city, the football team will pay the city $6,750 for every home game played at the Bismarck Event Center.

Details about the name of the team have not been released but it is likely it will be announced on Wednesday at the team's press conference.
