Bismarck State College Closing

According to a press release issued by the college, all BSC offices will be closed for a time. As of right now, the closure is set for April 12th through 14th.

Classes and any events scheduled during the duration of the expected blizzard have also been canceled.
No additional information has yet been provided by the college, but I imagine reopening after the 14th will be touch-and-go and dependent on the severity of the storm.

I'm also sure this is the first of many closings and cancellations still to come.

Anticipated Impact:

If you don't know, most of the state is under a Blizzard Warning until 7pm on April 14th. Anticipated snowfall accumulation is expected to be between 12 and 24 inches. Wind speeds could also get as high as 50 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, these events will likely start sometime around 7am tomorrow (Tuesday, April 12th) morning.

Travel:

Those who live or frequently park on Emergency Snow Routes are being reminded to move their vehicles for city crews. Those who must travel tomorrow, are urged to exercise extreme caution, and plan for delays.

Snow Removal:

While the cities of Bismarck-Mandan will be working to clear the roads, residents are reminded to clear their sidewalks and nearby fire hydrants. Also remember that snow is not to be deposited in the streets.

The city of Bismarck does have a very detailed snow removal procedure, so if you are interested, the City of Bismarck's website outlines the order, and priorities of the snow removal process. They also have a FAQ Sheet that may answer any other questions you may have regarding a snow-related weather event.
