I94 Closed Montana Border To Jamestown, ND
No shocker here. I94 is now closed from the Montana border all the way to Jamestown, North Dakota. That means the gates are up in Bismarck. The road shut down at 5 pm, Tuesday, April 12th. No travel is advised in the Bismarck Mandan area.
Here's a look at the latest road conditions map from the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
As you can see by the map no travel is advised over all of southcentral and southwest North Dakota. That includes Highway 83 south and north of Bismarck and 1804 and 1806. Visibilities are down to zero in open country with wind gusts over 40 miles per hour currently in the Bismarck Mandan area. Officials remind you to only travel if it's an emergency and be sure to have a winter survival kit in your vehicle.
The Mayor of Bismarck Steve Bakken just informed me that the city has declared a snow emergency as of 7 pm tonight. That means all vehicles need to be off emergency routes or they will be towed. Bismarck City plows are trying to keep snow emergency roads open but vehicles getting stuck and vehicles on the streets are hindering the process. Please remove any vehicles on snow emergency roads immediately. Otherwise, your vehicle will be towed by the city.
Another weather-related announcement, Burleigh County offices will be closed tomorrow (except for emergency services) due to current and forecast weather conditions. That means no garbage pick-up for the county.
