The Minnesota Twins jumped out early Sunday afternoon on the south-side of Chicago and never looked back.  The Twins beat the White Sox 14-2.  Minnesota put up a 4 spot in the first inning followed by 5 more runs in the 2nd inning.  The 9-0 early lead was more than enough as the Minnesota cruised to another victory.  Minnesota's new pitcher Kenta Maeda went 5 strong innings for the Twins and gave up 2 runs in gaining the victory.  The Twins bullpen pitched a shutout in the blowout.

The Minnesota Twins took 2 out of 3 games against Chicago and set a record in team history.  According to the Minnesota Twins radio network, this is the first time in team history where the team scored double digit runs in 2 of it's first 3 games.  The Twins slugged out 10 runs in the season opener with a 10-5 victory.  The White Sox returned the favor in game two by scoring 10 runs themselves in a 10-3 victory.

Minnesota's DH Nelson Cruz was named the American League player of the week after his performance over the weekend.  The 40 year old slugger hit 3 home runs and drove in 10 runs.

The Twins flew back to Minneapolis after Sunday's game and are preparing for the home opener against St. Louis Tuesday night at Target Field.  Newcomer Homer Bailey will take the mound for the Twins.  The Cardinals are expected to be one of the better teams in the National League this year.  This should be a great early season series as every game means so much in this COVID-19 shorten 60 game season.
