I'm not about to dive into an in-depth analysis of North Dakota's energy resources.  There are professional advocates on all sides of the energy industry spectrum that would just love to debunk anything I say and pull my pants down in public. So, since I mostly roll "commando",  I'll spare us all the scathing critic attacks by throwing out this simple observation-

THERE SURE DOES SEEM TO BE  A BUNCH OF WIND FARMS POPPING UP!

After getting shot down by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department among others, Next Era Energy Resources has redesigned their Burke Wind Farm proposal for Burke and Mountrail counties in the northern part of the state.  Now, with the approval of the Public Service Commission, work can begin on the smartly renamed Northern Divide Wind Energy Center. The proposal calls for another 74 wind turbine to pop up on the prairie.

So how do these towering turbines even work?

Wind Power

If you really want to know how it works in enroll at Bismarck State College and get you a degree from the National Energy Center of Excellence.  We are truly fortunate to have a internationally respected program like that right here in Bismarck.

After all that over simplification of actual science, back to our story-

THERE SURE DOES SEEM TO BE  A BUNCH OF WIND FARMS POPPING UP!

Click here for a break down of current and past wind farm activity as published by the Public Service Commission.  The numbers are really quite amazing- especially the projects in the works.  Do yourself a favor and click the link.

There's a lot brewing in nearby Oliver County.  Starts way back in 2006 as Next Era completed the Oliver County Wind Project with 33 turbines! In 2007, it's Oliver County Wind Project II with another 32 turbines.

So let's go to 2019, it appears Next Era has issued a letter of intent to develop "Oliver County Expansion", an expansion project that would put up  (get ready for it...)

667 NEW WIND TURBINES!

I think we could all agree that it does seem like a bunch.
